Have you tried contacting CIGA at all? They have been responsive when I have contacted them in the past regarding removing cavity insulation from a timber framed house (yes retrofit blown fibre into timber frame). You need to make sure that the usual 25 year guarantee is still in date. The fact that the original company are no longer in existence should not affect the outcome. They have contractors nationwide (often the installers are now doing the insulation removals) . Hope this is helpful. Can you keep us posted.

They were present at an RPSA CPD event, and I followed through with a trial, and as a result I have signed up with them. Have had it since April 2023. Really useful to be able to do a Desktop appraisal before quoting for a survey just with the address and clicking through the tabs. Yes the information is available via individual websites, but it is far simpler to have all of the infomeation in one place which can then be refered back to once enquiry is converted to an instruction or preparing the report. Can also look at planning applications and building regs for the neighbouring properties. Also for valuers, some suggested comps separated into surrounding area and same street. The monthly subscription is modest in my view for the ease of use.  So I am a fan.

The expectation to complete 8 x Building Surveys per week is just crazy in my view. 8 per month would have my brain frazzled!! The judgement indicates an allocation of 2.5 hrs to do not only the inspection but also the report – which to me is absurb, irrespective of what software anyone is using. No reflection time, its just churn. I agree with Tom, that its a shame that the RICS HSS were not referred to, and the case hinged on whether the surveyor was entitled to his bonus and expenses. At least RICS has now suspended the firm for 12 months, as an interim measure, which suggests that they are trying, but too little too late?  What a mess this sector is in and sad to see.

Agree, it isnt cost effective on an individual basis. Yet another RICS rip off. If ISVA could obtain a group account that I would welcome this proposal – I know it used to be included albeit some time ago.

In my Complaints Handling Procedure, when Ombudsman Service – Property withdrew back in 2018, I changed to the following:

    Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution
    70 Fleet Street,
    London,
    EC4Y 1EU
    Tel: 0207 520 3800
    Email: applications@cedr.co.uk
    Web: http://www.cedr.com

Havent had to use yet, touch wood, so no idea if they are helpful or just incur another cost.
