From Ian Vicary, ISVA Chairman
In the light of the UK Government’s easing of some restrictions from 13 May, ISVA has drafted a Covid-19 Health & Safety Policy to assist members. The Policy forms part of the risk assessment and is designed to protect both you and your clients when you return to undertaking inspections.
You are advised to read the Government guidance in conjunction with this ISVA Policy (see links below). As independent practitioners, we must take responsibility for our own practice and procedures. We have not sought legal advice on the policy document, which has been kept simple and concise, but hope it will prove a helpful starting point.
As a result of these changes to working practice, it is now considered to be even more important that records are kept of all communications with the various parties involved and that additional procedures are carried out on your file notes and records in case of any recourse in the future.
The ISVA Health & Safety Policy template is offered as guidance and can be customised with your own company details, logo, etc., etc. It can be edited to incorporate any changes required which are specific to your own practice. Your own version should be sent to your client in good time before any inspection takes place so that agreement from the relevant party or parties can be obtained before proceeding.
The Policy can be downloaded from the Members’ Area of the ISVA website on the Covid-19 page in the Information and Policies section (login required).
